India's Deputy High Commissioner to Bangladesh Pawankumar Tulshidas Badhe has called for expanding bilateral trade and investment between Bangladesh and India, removing tariff and non-tariff barriers, and strengthening commercial ties between the two countries.
Badhe made the remarks during a courtesy meeting with FBCCI Administrator Fazlul Hoque at the chamber's Gulshan office on Sunday.
During the meeting, the Indian envoy underscored the need to form a B2B Task Force to expand investment and trade between the two countries, saying his office has maintained regular communication and dialogue with both governments to expedite the process.
He sought cooperation from Bangladesh's private sector, under FBCCI's leadership, in this regard.
The Deputy High Commissioner also said India has simplified all visa procedures for Bangladeshi nationals travelling to the country, with the Indian High Commission now issuing handsome amount of visas daily.
FBCCI Administrator said a joint task force could play a fruitful role in boosting Bangladesh-India bilateral trade and strengthening cooperation between the two countries.
He called on businesspeople and entrepreneurs from both nations to work jointly to advance investment and trade in emerging and promising sectors.
